We Need Parents

Because we are headed all the way down to Memphis this year, we would love to take a few more parents along with us. This is a great experience to share with your son or daughter. Not to mention, one of the few opportunities you will ever have to sleep on a church floor with 50 other people who may or may not snore. If you are interested or have questions about it, please contact Aaron (aaron@mpcc.org) at (989) 400-0080.

Why Memphis?

In order for a mission trip to work for our ministry, the cost needs to be low, it needs to accommodate a large number of people, and it has to provide a significant opportunity for High School students to serve. As you might imagine, it takes quite a bit of searching to find the right fit for our group. Luckily we were able to find what we were looking for in Memphis.

Through connections with a couple of large churches in our denomination that have ministries in the inner-city, as well as personal relationships that our staff have with some Memphis pastors, we found some great opportunities. Craig Torgerson (our former College ministry intern) now works as a youth pastor in Memphis, TN. We have set up excellent lodging and several different ministries eager to partner with our students. These ministries are doing significant mission work in neighborhoods with great need and we are excited to be able to participate in their endeavors.

All of the essential pieces of a great mission trip have come together in Memphis and we will be going July 10-17. As an additional bonus, even though Memphis is a city in great need, it is also a great “cultural experience” for our students (after all, what could be better than Graceland and BBQ ribs?).
